Musing Mondays, brought to you by Should Be Reading!
This week’s question…
What is the last book you struggled to read through to the end, even though you weren’t really enjoying it? What made you keep reading?
This is a toughie. I can’t really think of the last time I had this problem. I’m pretty selective about what I read. If the back cover or first page doesn’t grab me, then I usually don’t continue.
So the last book I can think of that I had trouble getting through would be The Ruby in the Smoke, by Phillip Pullman. I bought it because I loved His Dark Materials and I wanted to see what else he had. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into it. I barely remember what the plot was now, only that I think there was a murder and this girl was kind of smart and she was trying to solve it. I finished it because I do like Phillip Pullman, but I probably wouldn’t read the other two books in the series.
So what about you?
