Faery Ink Press presents the Splat! Fiction Ezine.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submissions are due the 8th of every second month, and the ezine is released on the 15th of every second month. Submissions for the next issue are due on March 8th, 2009.
What We Publish
Splat! Fiction accepts only fiction and poetry. We publish four genres of fiction, but we are open to cross-genres. (Ex: Sci/fi and romance, fantasy and western, etc.)
All work remains copyright of the author, but it will be archived on the site. We would prefer to see fiction and poetry that hasn’t been previously published.
We publish the following genres:
- Science Fiction
- Fantasy
- Speculative Fiction
- Horror
We would like to see stories less than 3,000 words. If your story is slightly longer and can be split into two parts, send it along and we’ll see what we can do. As we are only a tiny publication, we cannot do serials at this time.
Poetry: No more than 200 words.
Format
Please send all submissions to: splatfiction@gmail.com
Please send the story as an attachment. We accept stories/poems as .rtf, .doc, and .wps files. As long as it has a readable format (say like, double spaced!) and not in a ridiculous crazy font, we’ll read it.
Tips and Tricks to Getting Published
We want fiction that makes us think. Fiction that inspires. We want to read stories that will make us laugh; make us scared. We want stories that shock and surprise us. If your story can do this, it will be accepted.
Also, please make sure that you’ve thoroughly went through your story and checked for grammar and spelling errors. And no, running it through spell check isn’t enough. Read it out loud. You’d be surprised how many errors you catch.
Fiction must be original. Plagiarism is against the law. Plus, I think it’ll be fairly obvious if you send us “Karry Motter and the Goblin Stone” that you didn’t write it.
Payment
Unfortunately, Splat! Fiction cannot offer monetary compensation for your stories. Sometimes there’s nothing better than someone else reading your writing and liking it, which is what we offer you.
So, with all that said, we expect to see our inbox full of many delicious stories!
